Funding Opportunity: Scottish Government PhD Studentship

A great opportunity for fans of twentieth century Scottish migration from the University of Edinburgh:

 

Scottish Diaspora Studies since 1945

This studentship is funded by the Scottish Government through the Scottish Funding Council, and is part of a larger grant made by to the Scottish Centre for Diaspora Studies at the University of Edinburgh. 

It provides an exciting opportunity for a PhD student to work with leading scholars at the world-renowned Scottish Centre for Diaspora Studies. The studentship will be awarded to a student intending to work on a topic related to Scottish Diaspora studies since 1945 who has been accepted onto the PhD programme in History in the School of History, Classics and Archaeology. History at the University of Edinburgh was rated in RAE2008 as top in Scotland and third in the UK for the number of 'world leading' and 'internationally excellent researchers' The studentship is available for September 2011 entry and is tenable for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory progress. It covers payment of UK/EU tuition fees (overseas candidates would be liable for the fee difference between this and the overseas fee). An annual maintenance stipend of £13,590 per annum will also be provided.
